St. Johann Town Hall
It was built as the town hall of the then independent city of “St. Johann an der Saar” between 1897 and 1900 after the designs of “Georg von Hauberrisser”. It is also the largest neo-gothic building in Saarland.
Basilica of St. Johann
It was built in a baroque style by Friedrich Joachim Stengel. The church was financed by Louis XIV in the 18th century when the catholic population started growing.
Saarbrücken Castle
Do not forget about the Saarbrücken Castle Garden, located behind the main building. Earlier it used to descend to the terraces of river Saar and up to this day maintains its atmospheric scene.
Franco-German Garden
Originally, it was an area that consisted of fields, meadows, and forests, but in the 19th century, it was expanded to a green area. It quickly became an important and popular attraction in Saarbruecken.
Ludwig’s Church
Ludwig’s Church, located near the city center, is considered to be one of the most beautiful protestant baroque-style churches in Germany and is often compared to the Michel in Hamburg and the Frauenkirche in Dresden.
Saint John Market
St. John’s Market has been an important meeting point ever since the 1300s. It is home to various cultural and culinary experiences, - a perfect way to experience Saarbrücken’s vibrant life.
