Experience

Your walk will start at a crossing of the River Windrush and will take you to the handsome Church of St John the Baptist and its fascinating grave yard. Venture onto the High Street and admire the delightful buildings, before visiting the Tolsey Museum to discover the story behind this captivating little town. Continue your walk along Lamb Street to appreciate the enchanting buildings that line this road, before joining the High Street again and ascending The Hill, which will deliver the best view of the town. It is then just a short walk to The Prince of Burford for a well earned meal. Then head back to your starting point, taking in more of Burford’s alluring architecture.

Route

Church of St John the Baptist

Building work began on the church in 1175 and was complete by 1500. The church boasts a series of beautiful stained glass windows.

Tolsey Museum

The museum displays the various crafts and trades that once flourished in Burford, such as bell-founding, quarrying, roofing, brewing and coopering, rope-making, saddlery and souvenirs.

The Hill

The Prince of Burford

A cosy, rustic restaurant and pub, with relaxed dining and tempting real ales.

The Great House

Grade II listed building, built in the late 17th century and designed by the Christopher Wren school.
